SCOTT WILLIAMS revealed he CRIED on tour during a nightmare season as he battled dartitis. The world No51 has endured a tough campaign with his throwing rhythm badly affected while he has also recently split from his management agency. He told Oche180: “It was tough to start with because you don’t want to admit you have got it. “You just feel like something is going wrong. There was a lot going on in my personal life. “I had a darts shop and I started to coach as well which was going great. “But what I did I seemed to put all my effort and time into that. Which then my game went down. “Then I was financially looking after the shop with my own money not the investors’ money or somebody else’s. The UK Open this year was one of the toughest ones. “I played Benjamin Pratnemar and I was 4-1 up I think. Then all of a sudden I got so uncomfortable I couldn’t release a dart. “I cried on the tour a couple of times on the tour this year. I won the couple of games I cried. “I beat Tyler Thorpe 6-4 and I hit five bullseye checkouts. Not one way you would think I am going the bullseye but I did because in my head that is how it works. “I cried. I went back to my manager and my wife was there. I was like I don’t know why.” Williams believes the worst may finally be behind him after making adjustments to his set up. He added: “But as you have seen recently, a couple of nine-darters in a couple of events. The throw is much better. “A change in equipment for the last six to eight weeks. It is all coming back together. “But potentially the first six months of the year is going to cost me massively. “So if that is the way it is. That’s darts and it’s my life. I’ll go and get on with it and do the next thing I need to do to get back to the top.” Comment now
