Scorned mum sentenced for nude photo WhatsApp revenge plot after finding out partner had cheated

A SCORNED mum-of-two has been sentenced for sharing a nude photo to Whatsapp in a revenge plot after finding out her partner had cheated. The court was not told who the victim was, but Backshall was said to have caused them trauma and distress. Victoria McGrady, prosecuting, said: “It relates to one image which was of the person in an intimate state and the only charge is sharing the photograph. Bianca Brasoveanu, defending, told the court her client accepted in full that she had shared the image in the WhatsApp group. Magistrates decided a pre-sentencing report should be completed on Backshall, and a short adjournment allowed a probation officer to interview her at court before she was sentenced. Most read in The Sun The officer told the court Backshall had been going through “emotional difficulties” at the time of the incident. They added the 25-year-old “regretted her actions” and understood the impact sharing the image had on the victim. Backshall suffered from anxiety and depression and had been treated by her GP for those issues since she was a teenager, the court was told. She claimed benefits and received around £2,000 a month. Ms Brasoveanu added: “She has regret and remorse for her actions; she could have dealt with it in a much better way. “She has lost her good character, and that will follow her for the rest of her life.” Magistrates ordered Backshall to pay £400 to the victim for the trauma and psychological distress she had caused them. The mum was also fined £200 for the offence and will pay what she owes the court at a rate of £20 a month because she is a benefits claimant.
