Schools in Visakhapatnam district closed on August 1 for Modi’s Bhogapuram visit

File | Photo Credit: lakshmiprasad S In view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to take part in the inauguration of the Alluri Sitarama Raju (ASR) International Airport at Bhogapuram on August 1, and the expected traffic congestion in and around Visakhapatnam, the district administration on Friday (July 31, 2026) announced special holidays for schools on Saturday (August 1, 2026).According to District Educational Officer (DEO) Prem Kumar, all private management schools in the district were asked to close for the afternoon session on Friday to reduce inconvenience to students, parents and school transport services from the traffic restrictions and heavy vehicular movement during the Prime Minister’s visit on Saturday.The district administration has also declared August 1, 2026, a holiday for all government and private management schools. The DEO said the holiday would be compensated with classes on a later date, which would be notified separately.The District Educational Officer asked the heads of all educational institutions to follow the instructions issued by the district administration and make the necessary arrangements.
