Schools in Uttarakhand's Pithoragarh to remain shut tomorrow amid heavy rainfall

Residents have been advised to stay in safe locations and avoid unnecessary travel.District Magistrate Ashish Bhatgai has announced a one-day holiday for all government and private schools from classes 1 to 12, as well as Anganwadi centres, as a precautionary measure.The administration has advised parents not to send their children outside unnecessarily and to ensure they remain in safe locations during the period of heavy rainfall.PUBLIC ADVISED TO AVOID RISKY AREASThe district administration has advised people to stay away from rivers, streams and ravines, particularly if water levels begin to rise. Motorists have also been asked to remain alert while travelling on hilly routes, especially in areas prone to falling rocks and landslides. Also, the District Magistrate has appealed to the public to immediately report any emergency situation to the concerned Tehsil administration or District Disaster Management Authority.Residents have also been advised to rely only on official sources for weather and disaster-related information and follow instructions issued by the administration.(With inputs from Rakesh Pant)- Ends
