See more Daily Mail on Google - save us as a Preferred Source Published: 06:44 EDT, 28 August 2026 | Updated: 06:44 EDT, 28 August 2026 A 14-year-old boy allegedly inspired by Adolf Hitler has denied planning to stab worshippers at two mosques - attacks which were supposed to have been carried out today had he not been stopped.The schoolboy, who cannot be identified because of his age, intends to plead not guilty to engage in conduct in preparation for terrorist acts, and to one count of racially aggravated criminal damage, the Old Bailey heard today.Wearing a blue top and appearing via videolink from youth detention accommodation, the boy spoke only to confirm his name, and date of birth during the 15-minute hearing.The judge, Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb, said: 'The allegations are among the most serious.'He was further remanded in custody ahead of his trial, due to take place on March 15 next year at Kingston Crown Court.A formal plea hearing is expected to be held in November.The court heard no members of the boy's family were present for the hearing, although prosecutor Dan Pawson-Pounds KC said the young defendant's parents thought it would be in their son's 'best interests not to attend'.The boy is said to have wanted to carry out the atrocities under the pretence of converting to Islam, a previous hearing at the magistrates' court heard. The defendant allegedly wanted to carry out mass killing in the Surrey town of SuttonHe was only stopped when police investigating him for alleged racially aggravated criminal damage to a vehicle discovered material suggesting he held extreme right-wing beliefs in his bedroom, prosecutors at Westminster Magistrates Court last month said.The boy created a manifesto in which he allegedly referred to being inspired by Hitler as well as other right-wing extremists, Christchurch mosque terrorist Brenton Tarrant and Norweigian neo-Nazi Anders Breivik.He is said to have planned to attack two mosques in Sutton, south London, on August 28 - today.The magistrates court heard the boy was initially arrested on July 9 on suspicion of racially aggravated criminal damage after a car windscreen had been smashed with a brick.Police seized the boy's mobile phone, laptop and two notepads which then gave rise to concerns he was in the throes of planning a terrorist attack in Sutton, it was alleged.Opening the case at the time, prosecutor Adam Harbinson said his manifesto 'clearly' showed he was 'motivated by an extreme right-wing ideology'.The court heard the car damage was a 'trial run' for a larger campaign of tyre-slashing and targeted attacks on vehicles called 'Operation Terrorise Sutton'.The prosecutor said there was evidence the youth's views were 'entrenched' rather than general curiosity or role play.In a statement following the boy's arrest, Commander Helen Flanagan, head of Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) London, said: 'This is a very serious terrorism charge against a young boy and likely to be highly concerning to the public and the local community.'We know this will be particularly concerning to the Muslim community and we are working closely with the venues affected to ensure they are kept updated and to provide advice, support and reassurance, and this will continue.'
