Scene trailer: Suriya plays rule-breaking cop Inbaraj in Jithu Madhavan's film

Actor Suriya steps into the role of Inbaraj, an unconventional police officer who wants to leave the force, in the trailer of his upcoming film Scene. Directed by Jithu Madhavan, the film combines action, comedy and mystery, with Nazriya playing Maya and Naslen appearing as the intelligent and ruthless criminal Eeswaran. The trailer follows Inbaraj as he ignores orders, clashes with his superior Stephen and prepares to face Eeswaran. It also features a dialogue that appears to refer indirectly to actor Vijay’s move into politics. Suriya’s 47th film, Scene, will be released worldwide on November 6, during Deepavali. The makers unveiled the trailer on Saturday. Sharing it on X, Suriya wrote, “Murder. Mystery. Madness... and a whole lot of laughter! Enjoy #Scene in theatres with friends and family! With love from us to you. In cinemas from 6th Nov 2026! #DiwaliRelease (sic).” The trailer begins with Inbaraj deciding to resign from the police force, leaving his seniors, colleagues and subordinates surprised. He appears eager to spend time at home after quitting, but his superior officer Stephen, played by Lal, repeatedly asks him to report to the office. When Inbaraj ignores the instructions, Stephen sends policemen to his home to bring him in. Stephen asks why Inbaraj wants to quit while at the peak of his career and questions him about his plans. Inbaraj replies that he intends to enter politics. The exchange appears to be an indirect reference to Vijay, who stepped away from acting to pursue a political career, and brings a topical element to the trailer’s humour. The trailer then introduces Eeswaran as a major challenge for Inbaraj. Naslen’s character is portrayed as a sharp and ruthless criminal who regards the police officer as a worthy opponent. Inbaraj responds in his unconventional manner by asking, “Am I your equal?” Nazriya’s Maya also receives a brief introduction. The trailer ends on a comic note with a reference to the Singham film.More about the filmJithu Madhavan previously directed Romancham in 2023 and Aavesham in 2024. His approach to characterisation in those films has prompted interest in how he presents Suriya as a police officer in his Tamil directorial debut.Ahead of the trailer’s release, the film drew attention with two songs composed by Sushin Shyam. The first single, Aathi Iva Yarraa, was followed by Aeroplane, a peppy number featuring Suriya and Nazriya that hints at the bond between their characters.Along with Suriya, Nazriya, Naslen and Lal, Scene stars Anandraj and Raj Priyan. Suriya and Jyotika have produced the film under Zhagaram Studios and 2D Entertainment. The technical crew includes cinematographer Vineeth Augustian, editor Ajmal Sabu, production designer Ashwini Kale, art director A Rajesh and stunt choreographer Chethan D’Souza.Scene will compete at the box office with Nayanthara’s Mookuthi Amman 2 and Ramayana: Part 1, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi.- Ends
