Scamming Idris uses Ollie and Lauren to his cunning advantage in Coronation Street | Freelance Soaps Reporter Published August 12, 2026 10:00pm Idris is playing a dangerous game. Will Ollie and Lauren come out on top? (Picture: ITV) Idris Nazir (Junade Khan) seems to be on a one-man mission to manipulate everyone on Coronation Street. His latest targets? Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) and Ollie Driscoll (Raphael Akuwudike). Cast your minds back all the way to May, when Executive Producer Kate Brooks teased that Corrie fan favourite Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) would get into bed with a ‘ruthless new love interest’. That was something of an understatement. Idris is not a very nice man at all. Not only is he a slum lord whose mould-ridden property hospitalisedWebster’s (Sally Carman) son Alfie Franklin with severe breathing difficulties, but he is dragging troubled teen Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey)into his shadowy world as his criminal protege. In case that wasn’t enough drama to be going on with, Weatherfield’s latest bad boy has set his sights on adding Speed Daal to his property empire, much to the chagrin of his cousin Alya Nazir (Sair Khan). Idris wants Alya’s business. (Picture: ITV) Ask Metro Use AI to go deeper into the stories you care about – powered by Metro and trusted publications. Only she’s he’s not actually her cousin. (Cue Corrie sad trombone). Idris in fact, Alya’s secret uncle, a fact that he only revealed to set the cat amongst the pigeons and take his cousin/niece’s mind off the deal. Now, the absolute rotter is determined to get his grubby mits on Speed Daal. She’s already decided to sell the business. But will it be to Idris? Upcoming scenes of Coronation Street will see Alya consider a deal with Idris the Devil, who goes to great lengths to raise the money to buy Speed Daal… even if it means exploiting his neighbours Ollie and Lauren. While local chef Ollie is a lovely lad, Lauren is also salt of the earth but would quite happily dole out a black eye to anyone who looked at her funny. Idris better watch his back in next week’s trip to the Cobbles… Annoy Lauren at your peril. We’re looking at you, Idris. (Picture: ITV) When Alya spells out to Idris she wants £50k for her share of Speed Daal, Idris mulls on her proposal while playing chess with Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) in the restaurant. When Ollie sees them playing and reveals that he was a poker fiend back in the day, the cogs in Idris’s head start whirring.. When Idris admits that he’s struggling to find the extra £15k for Alya, Leanne offers to lend him £5k. Delighted, Idris books Speed Daal for a private party and enlists the help of Ollie and Lauren, explaining that it’s a poker night and neither Alya nor Leanne must find out about it… Idris tells Ollie that he’d like him to take part in the poker game, he’ll provide him with the cash, the odds will be stacked in his favour and he’ll receive a cut of the winnings. As Lauren and Brody set up for the poker night, Lauren overhears Idris giving Ollie his instructions. Lauren warns Ollie that if he’s caught cheating, there will be hell to pay. Having found out about the poker night from Brody, Cobbles Copper Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) makes inquiries at Speed Daal and persuades a reluctant Idris to let him take part and one of the players. A pack of jokers. (Picture: ITV) Unfortunately for him, one of the other players is local dodgy car dealer Fiona Morley (Sara Poyzer), who fans may remember unwittingly supplied the gun to Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) responsible for the Websters’ Mexican standoff in the garage.Fiona insists on doubling the stakes. With the game underway, Idris watches intently while Brody secretly knocks back shots behind the bar. One by one the players fold leaving Fiona and Ollie to battle it out. Idris deals a wild card by unleashing Fiona on Lauren and Ollie. (Picture: ITV) Ollie wins the game hands down. Idris breathes a sigh of relief. But Fiona’s fuming. Never an emotion you want to see in a ruthless gangster. After Idris has a go at Brody for stealing drinks, Brody lets slip to Leanne that it was a poker night and Ollie won using the money she gave Idris. Idris has just used Ollie and Lauren as pawns against a deadly crime boss just to win enough money to buy a curry house. How will Leanne react?
