Scalpers are trying to sell Zelda: Ocarina Of Time remake bonuses for over £700

The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time remake is officially out in the wild now, and while some are simply happy revisiting the glossed-up version of Hyrule, there has been some kerfuffle over pre-order bonuses. While the US hasn’t received any pre-order bonuses for the remake, the best extra item, a replica of the original Nintendo 64 box, has only been available in limited quantities across the UK, France, and Canada. Most painfully of all, they have only been available at specific shops as part of midnight launch events. The demand for these boxes, along with other Zelda pre-order bonuses, has led to some obscene listings on online marketplaces like eBay, where they’re currently going for upwards of £700. As seen by GameCentral, one listing on eBay is asking for £720.70 for a copy of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time, the replica Nintendo 64 box, and an ocarina key ring. Another, meanwhile, has the same collection of items up for £516.70, not counting the £6.84 delivery. Someone is trying to secure a small fortune with a listing that combines the Zelda-themed Switch 2 console, a foil sleeve copy of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time, and the spiritual stones set. At the time of writing, this is being advertised for £1,025.68. Want GTA 6 news? Hyrule robbery (Metro/eBay) More than a red rupee (Metro/eBay) Pricey stones (Metro/eBay) Even those with just the spiritual stones are trying their luck with extortion. One seller is trying to get £140 for it, without the game itself. This extends to the electric ocarina (the other wind version isn’t available in the UK yet), which is up for sale at £119.99, despite being priced at £44.99 brand new from other retailers. While it’s unclear if anyone is actually buying these pre-order bonuses at these high prices, there is currently no other way to get the spiritual stones or Nintendo 64 replica box. At the time of writing, physical copies of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time on the Nintendo Store, where the stones were offered as a pre-order extra, are sold out. It’s unclear if Nintendo will restock the pre-order bonuses with future runs, although the foil sleeve will only be available ‘while supplies last’. There might be even more scalper shenanigans when GTA 6 rolls around on November 19, especially if Rockstar has limited quantities of the physical Leonida map. Ironically, physical copies of Ocarina Of Time do come with a paper map by default. It’s certainly pretty (Nintendo) Email gamecentral@metro.co.uk, leave a comment below, follow us on Twitter.
