SBU Says Ukraine Struck Aircraft Plant in Crimea, Russian Port, Major Oil Refinery

Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU), working alongside the country’s Armed Forces, said on Friday it carried out coordinated overnight strikes on an aircraft plant in occupied Crimea, port infrastructure in Russia’s Krasnodar region, and one of the country’s largest oil refineries as part of a campaign to degrade Moscow’s military capabilities. The agency also said drones struck infrastructure at the Port of Taman on the Kerch Strait, where a large fire was reported. In Russia’s Volgograd region, the operation reportedly hit the Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka refinery, one of the country’s largest oil-processing facilities. The refinery has an annual processing capacity of about 15 million metric tons of crude oil and produces gasoline, diesel, and aviation fuel. Reuters previously reported, citing industry sources, that Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries since the start of the year had reduced gasoline production to around 65% of average summer demand by early July. Wildberries warehouses targeted again In Volgograd, drones also hit a logistics center owned by Russian e-commerce giant Wildberries. The company confirmed a fire at the facility, saying no employees were injured and operations had been rerouted to other warehouses. Videos circulating on Russian social media showed massive fires and thick smoke over the city. Open-source analysts identified the apparent targets as the Wildberries distribution hub and the nearby Lukoil refinery, though the scale of the damage has not been independently confirmed. The attacks extended hundreds of kilometers farther east. Residents in Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan reported explosions overnight, while footage analyzed by the independent Russian outlet ASTRA appeared to show smoke rising from another Wildberries logistics complex in Zelenodolsk near Kazan. More than 30 explosions were also reported in nearby Nizhnekamsk, home to the TANECO and TAIF-NK oil refineries. Videos showed flames near the industrial refining zone, although it remains unclear whether either refinery was hit. Russian authorities declared a drone threat across much of Tatarstan and temporarily suspended flights at airports in Kazan, Nizhnekamsk, and Bugulma.
