He clarified that he is 27 years old, not 28, and said he has never claimed to be an active student. "Even Google is giving Kangana incorrect information about me. I'm 27, not 28, and I am not a student. I am a journalist. I never claimed to be an active student," Das told news agency ANI.He added that learning should not be confined to educational institutions. "I am a student of life. Regardless of one's age, one should remain a student of life. If one isn't a student of life, wisdom won't come. Kangana, too, should learn how to become a student of life," he said.Das's remarks came after Ranaut, the Lok Sabha MP from Mandi, criticised Das in a series of Instagram Stories while reacting to the student-led protests over the alleged NEET paper leak. Referring to Das, Ranaut wrote that she had searched for him online and questioned his claim of being a student. "Googled this student and he is 28. How he claims himself to be a student I have no clue," she wrote. The BJP MP contrasted Das's public profile with her own achievements, saying that while she had entered politics only two years ago, she had spent two decades in public life and had already won two National Awards by the time she was his age. In another post, she took a sharper swipe at Das, writing, "You are not a student; you are simply useless. Let's start with learning some skill. It's a good place to start."Ranaut also strongly criticised the conduct of some participants in the recent anti-NEET protests, alleging that abusive and obscene language had been used against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother."We too have participated in student protests. But what kind of students are these, and what kind of obscene language are they using? Our 75-year-old Prime Minister was targeted, and filthy abuse was hurled at his late mother. As a society, this is completely unacceptable to us," she said. She further argued that she had been financially independent from the age of 16 and questioned the conduct of those leading the demonstrations. In another Instagram Story, Ranaut described videos from the protests as "puke-inducing."The remarks come days after the youth-led Cockroach Janta Party concluded its protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar over the alleged irregularities in the NEET examination. The agitation, which drew thousands of students and was joined by activist Sonam Wangchuk during his hunger strike, had triggered a political confrontation between the Opposition and the Centre over alleged examination paper leaks.- EndsPublished By: Priyanka KumariPublished On: Jul 30, 2026 23:53 IST
