(credit: Houthi Media Center/Reuters)US warns Americans about possible escalation in Middle EastThe latest round of strikes came amid warnings by the US State Department, which updated its travel advisory notice for Israel on Friday, warning of an increased threat of armed attacks by Iran-backed Houthi terrorists and the potential for a rapid escalation of regional hostilities. The update did not change Israel's overall travel advisory classification, which remains at Level 3, urging American citizens to reconsider travel due to terrorism and unrest. The existing risk indicators and restrictions on travel to certain areas of the country also remain unchanged. In its warning on armed conflict, the State Department cited previous Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia, including strikes on civilian airports and critical infrastructure that resulted in civilian casualties and major travel disruptions.
