It follows a human huntress named Feyre Archeron as she is dragged into the dangerous realm of the fae. The series spans five novels that blend magic with romance and the delicate balance of political conflict. Maas is returning to the beloved franchise with two new novels, and now fans can get a glimpse and start theorizing about what the future could entail. Maas first signaled a new cover and title announcement by changing her Instagram profile picture and wiping her account entirely of posts. The author's website was also updated, signaling that a major announcement was on its way. Book 6 is officially titled A Court of Splintered Harmony and will be released on October 27. Book 7 is titled A Court of Forgotten Melody and will be released on January 12, 2027. Maas shared the update on Instagram with the caption for Book 6 as "What was broken will be remade," and Book 7's caption stated, "What was lost will be reclaimed." The covers were leaked earlier in the day by eagle-eyed fans as everyone began speculating on what they could mean for a potential story lying ahead in the ACOTAR universe. Many fans are already piecing together the possibility of The Valkyrie Cycle, which would be the anticipated multi-book arc within ACOTAR. That would entail focusing on the lore of the Valkyrie, including training and expanding on the characters previously introduced in the novel A Court of Silver Flames. The Valkyries are an ancient order of female warriors which Nesta Archeron, Gwyneth Berdara, and Emerie helped to revive. They train together at the House of Wind, reclaim power after trauma, and endure a brutal competition known as the Blood Rite. Nesta becomes the de facto leader as she attempts to heal her inner turmoil through training and honoring the historic name of the Valkyries, which in turn rewries the strength of females in Prythian. A Court of Splintered Harmony and A Court of Forgotten Melody are both available for pre-orders now, ahead of ACOTAR book 6's release in just two months.
