Sapphire Reserve Business Gets Bigger Hotel Credit, Bonus Category Cap

The Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ (learn more) is Chase’s premium business credit card. Chase has just unveiled two changes coming to the card, with one being positive, and the other being negative (though impacting very few people). Let’s get right into it… Sapphire Reserve Business gets bigger The Edit creditSapphire Reserve Business gets cap on 3x pointsBottom line Currently the Chase Reserve Business offers up to $500 per calendar year in credits with The Edit by Chase Travel, which is Chase’s portal with a large selection of luxury hotels. Currently this comes in the form of a $250 credit that can be used twice per year, with the requirement that each stay be a minimum of two nights. Starting January 1, 2027, the annual statement credit for The Edit by Chase Travel will double from $500 to $1,000, structured as a minimum of four statement credits. So the rules are staying the same, but instead of getting up to two credits, cardmembers will get up to four credits. As a reminder, The Edit by Chase Travel bookings come with extra benefits with each stay, including a $100 property credit, daily breakfast for two, a room upgrade (if available), and more. For those who can use the credit, this is of course a great development. I guess Chase determined that this benefit wasn’t costly at all. Keep in mind Chase gets a commission on hotel bookings, and the margins here depend entirely on how expensive the stay is. If you can find a hotel that costs $250 per night and book a two night stay and then get the credit, Chase isn’t making money on that. Meanwhile if you book a $2,000 per night stay because you get a $250 credit, then that’s immediately profitable for Chase. Chase is offering more hotel credits for its premium business card Sapphire Reserve Business gets cap on 3x points As one of its bonus categories, the Sapphire Reserve Business offers 3x points on social media & search engine advertising. Up until now, that bonus category has been uncapped. However, effective November 15, 2026, that bonus category will be capped at the first $1 million of spending per account anniversary year. After that, cardmembers will earn 1x points. The account anniversary year is defined as the period between November 15, 2026, and a cardmember’s next monthly statement with an annual fee, and then every 12-month period after that. I would imagine this doesn’t impact 99.9%+ of cardmembers, and that there were a small number of super users who were spending many millions of dollars per year in that category on the card. The card’s other bonus categories, including 4x points on direct hotel and airfare bookings, remain uncapped. First, as of January 1, 2027, the card will get an additional two annual credits for The Edit by Chase Travel, for a total value of up to $1,000 per year. Next, as of November 15, 2026, the card’s 3x points bonus category on social media & search engine advertising will be capped at $1 million in spending per anniversary year.
