During a Sunday interview with the Associated Press, Saoirse Ronan, who has been married to Lowden since 2024, was asked about the ongoing rumors surrounding her husband. Instead of answering directly, the Irish actress simply said, “Well, Gary Oldman thinks he’s James Bond,” referring to Lowden’s “Slow Horses” co-star. “[That’s] its own thing,” Ronan continued, smiling. “We’re kinda getting on with our life, to be honest. We have plenty of other things to be dealing with.” Saoirse Ronan didn’t deny that her husband, Jack Lowden (pictured in 2024), will play the highly-anticipated new James Bond. Getty Images “So, yeah, it’s not really a subject that’s coming up in our house, to be honest. The dog needs to be walked, the dinner needs to be made — we’re most focused on that.” The “Lady Bird” star also noted that her husband is filming “Slow Horses” right now, and “currently having a good time on that.” Ronan, notably, nominated herself to play a Bond villain in August. “I want to go dark,” the 32-year-old told Empire. “I said that I wanted to be a Bond villain and I’m dead serious.” Rumors of Lowden’s possible Bond casting heated up after Oldman, who is his “Slow Horses” co-star, claimed he is a frontrunner to play the iconic spy. Because they have picked him. They have made their choice, but they have not announced it yet. So my fingers are crossed for Jack.” Additionally, Oldman revealed a six-person shortlist to play Bond at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 10. The Oscar winner (seen above with Lowden) also alleged that the new Bond has already been chosen and that his “fingers are crossed for Jack.” ©Apple TV/Courtesy Everett Collection “I heard a rumor that they’ve picked James Bond, but they haven’t announced it yet, which is their prerogative,” he said at a TIFF panel (seen above). Oldman also joked, however, that he has no credibility when it comes to Bond movies, so he’s unsure why people are taking his opinion as fact. “Like I got a red phone [to the Bond people],” he quipped.
