Unfortunately, the bargain costs her soul, leaving her son Victor to grow up without her. As he becomes one of the most powerful sorcerers and scientific minds on Earth, in some comic stories, Doom makes it his lifelong mission to rescue his mother's soul from Mephisto's grasp. Considering that Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom is expected to be the central antagonist of Avengers: Doomsday, introducing Cynthia could provide the character with additional depth by expanding his backstory. 2 Latverian Witch Another possibility is that Hüller could portray one of the mysterious Latverian Witches who have featured in various promotional materials. While this may not be as recognizable a character as Cynthia von Doom, there are several reasons to believe that Marvel could be introducing these mystical figures as an important part of Doctor Doom's cinematic mythology. Latveria, the fictional Eastern European nation ruled by Doctor Doom, has always been closely associated with magic and mysticism. Although Doom is widely regarded as one of the world's greatest scientific minds, he is also an extraordinarily powerful sorcerer who has repeatedly demonstrated an ability to rival some of Marvel's most formidable magical characters. If Hüller dons the hood and robes of a Latverian Witch, the Academy Award-nominated actress could join Downey Jr.’s side as part of a larger supporting cast of Doomsday characters who help establish Doom's power and influence over Latveria. Even if her appearance is relatively brief, playing one of these witches could give the actress an opportunity to become part of a much larger storyline in future MCU projects. 1 Doctor Doom's Deceased Wife Perhaps the most intriguing possibility is that Hüller could portray Doctor Doom's deceased wife. One of the trailers for Avengers: Doomsday implies that Doom’s motivation in the movie is to seek revenge against the Avengers for the role they played in the deaths of his beloved wife and child. If the Russo Brothers opt to detail Doom’s tragic background in flashbacks, an actress of the caliber of Hüller, who also is of a European background, would be a logical choice for the role. If Doom's motivations are tied to the loss of someone he loves, Hüller could play a pivotal role in establishing the emotional stakes behind his actions.
