San Diego man arrested on suspected child sexual abuse at in-home Montessori school

A 35-year-old San Diego man was arrested on 12 felony counts tied to child sexual abuse that police allege happened at an in-home Montessori school he had access to.Abhishek Sareen was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday afternoon after being booked into San Diego County Jail early Tuesday morning. The San Diego Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force said it received online tips on Monday containing suspected child sexual abuse exploitation material, resulting in detectives launching an investigation immediately. Detectives determined that Sareen had regular access to an unknown number of children at the Lotus Learners Montessori School, an in-home daycare where he resided and served search warrants Monday evening. Officials said that there are at least three potential victims. Two have been identified with their families alerted, while a possible third victim remains unidentified.San Diego police (NBC 7)The investigation remains ongoing as detectives review all evidence to determine if there are more victims. No children were present at the time of his arrest, the San Diego Police Department said. The records list charges including sexual offenses against a child 10 or younger, lewd acts with a child under 14, possessing child sexual abuse material and using a minor in obscene material.According to the school’s website, there are three locations throughout San Diego. The “original home” opened in 2011; the “second home” opened in 2012 and the “newest home” opened in 2017.“Lotus Learners Montessori is a family-run, home-based preschool in North County San Diego. Enrolling children ages 2 to 6 across three neighborhood locations,” the website said.
