Mandatory Credit: Joe Puetz-Imagn Images Anders Dreyer scored his team-leading 15th goal and visiting San Diego FC defeated the suddenly struggling St. Louis City 1-0 on Saturday. Dreyer's goal shortly before halftime helped San Diego (9-13-11, 38 points) -- eliminated from playoff contention in Wednesday's loss at Vancouver -- snap a 10-match winless run and extend playoff-bound St. Louis' league losing streak to four matches. Pablo Sisniega made six saves to keep his first clean sheet and San Diego's eighth. The Southern Californians had gone 11 matches without a shutout, dating back to a 3-0 home win against Colorado on Aug. 22. San Diego defender Manu Duah also made a goal-line clearance of Simon Becher's stoppage-time effort to preserve the victory. St. Louis (14-10-9, 51 points) posted an MLS record-tying 19 league matches unbeaten from May 9 to Oct. 11, and more recently captured the U.S. Open Cup on penalties in the final at Columbus on Oct. 21. Its latest loss means it can finish no higher than third in the Western Conference, and could slide as low as sixth depending on results over the remainder of the weekend and on Nov. 7. Dreyer has been the exception to San Diego's struggles, also contributing 13 assists to follow his 38 goal contributions in his 2025 MLS MVP runner-up campaign. He put the visitors in front in the 39th minute with one of his better goals of 2026. Alejandro Alvarado played the through ball from deep in his own half, with Dreyer beginning his run just inside his own half to remain onside. Dreyer raced behind the St. Louis defense to reach it, saw Ben Lundt off his line, and lofted a perfectly weighted chip over the goalkeeper from about 30 yards and into an open goal. St. Louis pressed after halftime. Rafael Navarro's best chance came in the 48th minute, when he fired just high on a first-time effort from about 12 yards off Carlo Holse's low cross. Tomas Totland twice forced Sisniega into saves with an effort from distance in the 71st minute and a low shot from inside the box -- but across his body -- in the 78th. Tomas Ostrak also forced Sisniega into action with a long-range effort in the 83rd minute. And Duah made up for letting Becher get behind him when he raced back to the goal line to clear Becher's lofted effort with Sisniega beaten. --Field Level Media
