The Galaxy Z Fold 8 series isn’t even on shelves yet, and Samsung is already facing a leak that suggests a fifth Galaxy Z device will join the lineup in 2027. Galaxy Club reports that Samsung is planning to launch five separate Galaxy Z devices in 2027. Four of those phones have already been leaked. Previous reports suggest the Galaxy Z Flip 9, Galaxy Z Fold 9, and Galaxy Z Fold 9 Ultra will come as expected releases. Samsung is reportedly planning to include the Galaxy Z TriFold 2 in the mix, adding a specialized variant to an otherwise ordinary mix. But the surprise comes in the fifth device – an otherwise new addition to existing reports. It suggests Samsung will add a device under the codename “Z9.” Now, the Galaxy Z Fold 9 and friends all get codenames with, at minimum, a small track record. The Galaxy Z Fold 9 is known internally as “H9,” and the Galaxy Z Fold 9 Ultra is likely to go by “Q9A.” The “Q9B” identifier seems to be reserved for the Galaxy Z TriFold 2. Last year, Samsung internally named the Galaxy Z TriFold the “Q7M,” while the Galaxy Z Fold 7 was labeled the “Q7.” You can see how Samsung may use a similar scheme to name the Galaxy Z TriFold 2, expected in 2027. But the Galaxy “Z9.” Is a mystery. There aren’t many details that point us in the right direction. It’s possible Samsung wants to begin making a rollable available. We first began hearing rumors might head in that direction well before the Galaxy Z TriFold was announced. There’s newer information from sources in South Korea that claim Samsung plans to supply display panels for rollable phones, but those reports also claim Samsung has set a goal for 2028. Without a proven naming key to go by, there’s little way of knowing what Samsung is planning for Galaxy Z phones in 2027. And it’s all too early to know. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 8 just launched, and the pre-order phase is still very much in effect. More details will leak as we get closer to the next Galaxy Unpacked.
