Samsung SmartThings is shutting down support for Galaxy SmartTag in October

Samsung has confirmed plans to shut down its SmartThings Tracker feature that helps users locate Galaxy SmartTags, but it’s not the end of the actual tracker functionality. SamMobile highlights a notice from Samsung regarding the discontinuation of the “Tracker Service” in its SmartThings app on both Android and iOS. The notice reads (edited for formatting): We sincerely thank all customers who have used the Tracker service. Due to a change in our service operation policy, the Tracker service will be discontinued on October 31, 2026. As a result, starting November 1, 2026, Tracker service features, such as location checking and notifications for Tracker devices, will no longer be available. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and thank you once again for using the Tracker service. This service allowed the SmartThings app to show the location of tracker devices such as Samsung’s Galaxy SmartTag and third-party trackers integrating with the same network. While it’s inconvenient to lose an option, this doesn’t mean Samsung is ending support for its trackers. You can still use the dedicated Samsung Find app on Galaxy devices to locate Galaxy SmartTags, and Samsung is even rumored to be launching a third-generation SmartTag soon.
