Samsung ends support for two Galaxy watches

Samsung said that the Wear OS-powered watches would get four generations of updates, and they have: Wear OS 3.5/One UI Watch 4.5, Wear OS 4/One UI 5 Watch, Wear OS 5/One UI 6 Watch, and the final Wear OS 6/One UI 8 Watch update for the Galaxy Watch 4. But now Samsung has released its September 2026 security bulletin and the two watches are not in it. The Galaxy Watch 4 was groundbreaking It’s not a surprise that Samsung would stick to its word, but it is notable in that the Galaxy Watch 4 series was the first one that adopted Wear OS over Samsung’s proprietary Tizen. Tizen-powered watches lost their support last September. The Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic won’t stop working now that they’re not getting updates, but they will miss out on security and software updates. Of course, there are new models of Samsung Galaxy Watches waiting in the wings. Samsung released the Galaxy Watch 8 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 this summer.
