Samara Weaving Joins Marvel’s X-Men Cast as Emma Frost: Report

Director Jake Schreier has found his first mutant, as Samara Weaving has reportedly been cast as Emma Frost in Marvel’s upcoming X-Men movie. While Marvel had no comment, Deadline reports that Schreir and Marvel went through “the most thorough search” to find their Frost. Actors tested for the part shortly after July 4th, and Weaver was apparently cast earlier this week. Emma Frost has a complex history in the X-Men comics. Originally a villain as the so-called White Queen of The Hellfire Club, she ran Massachusetts Academy, a sort of mirror image of Professor Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters that eventually housed the superhero team Generation X. After going through a secondary mutation that allowed her to cover her body in diamond, she joined the Xavier School and the X-Men, at various points leading the team and dating its other leader, Cyclops. Frost has appeared in live action before, most prominently by January Jones in X-Men: First Class. X-Men Origins: Wolverine also featured a bit character named Emma with diamond skin, played by Tahyna Tozzi. Weaving, meanwhile, is coming off Ready or Not 2: Here I Come and Jorma Taccone’s Over Your Dead Body. Schreier won the coveted X-Men director’s chair after impressing audiences and critics on Marvel’s 2025 superhero team-up Thunderbolts*.
