Sam Neill Joins Legend Of Zelda Movie In Final Role As Cast Expands

On July 13, Neill died at the age of 78. However, the Jurassic Park veteran has several posthumous appearances lined up, like Godzilla x Kong: Supernova and The Last Resort. The Legend of Zelda has now been added to that list amidst another cast expansion for the film adaptation of the popular video game franchise. Deadline reports that The Legend of Zelda will serve as Neill’s final screen performance, though no details about his role have been revealed. Severance‘s Dichen Lachman and The Handmaid’s Tale‘s Yvonne Strahovski have also joined the video game movie’s cast. The former is reportedly playing Impa, Princess Zelda’s Impa, the bodyguard and advisor, while the latter is believed to be playing a “queen character.” Word of these three castings arrives several hours after it was reported that Young Rock’s Uli Latukefu has been cast as Ganondorf, the lead villain. House of the Dragon’s Benjamin Evan Ainsworth and Renegade Nell’s Bo Bragason anchor The Legend of Zelda as Link and Zelda, respectively. Their castings were unveiled in July 2025, over a year and a half after Nintendo announced it was developing a live-action Legend of Zelda movie with Sony Pictures.
