Producer Shailendra Singh has recalled an unusual meeting with Salman Khan at the actor's Galaxy Apartments residence, where he found the superstar calmly eating biryani while receiving injections on his scalp. Speaking on Cyrus Broacha's Cyrus Says podcast, Shailendra said he only later learnt that Salman was undergoing platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy for hair restoration.Shailendra, who also co-founded the Sunburn Festival, said the incident took place years ago during one of the regular Monday night gatherings at Salman's home. What initially seemed like a routine catch-up soon turned into a memorable experience.Recalling the evening, Shailendra said Salman had a habit of eating while looking into a mirror placed in front of the dining table."In those days, we used to have Monday night parties. He was sitting at the dining table, eating, and looking at himself in the mirror. He likes to eat while looking in the mirror. There's a small table in the kitchen with a mirror in front, so you're sitting next to him, but you're actually talking through the mirror," he said. He then described how a man carrying medical equipment entered the room, put on gloves and began injecting Salman's scalp without interrupting the conversation."He's sitting there eating biryani – you know Salman, he enjoys his food, especially after a few drinks. Suddenly, this strange-looking guy walks in, puts on gloves, takes out a needle and starts injecting his scalp. I'm watching all of this in the mirror and thinking, 'What the f*** is going on here?'" he recalled. Curious, Shailendra asked Salman what was happening. According to him, the actor simply replied, "There's a price to pay to be a star, bro," before continuing with his meal as the treatment went on.The producer said he later learnt that Salman was undergoing PRP therapy, a procedure commonly used to treat hair thinning. He added that the treatment was not widely known at the time."So, basically, they take your blood. They fortify it in a lab... That time it was illegal," he said.Shailendra also claimed that the procedure has since become common among actors. "At that time, I didn't know what it was. I think everyone does it now – Hrithik does it, everybody does it. As you grow older, and your hair starts thinning, you have to do these things," he said.PRP therapy is a regenerative treatment in which a person's blood is processed to concentrate platelets before being injected into the scalp. The growth factors in the platelet-rich plasma are believed to stimulate hair follicles and promote hair growth. On the work front, Salman Khan will next be seen in Maatrubhumi, directed by Apoorva Lakhia and co-starring Chitrangada Singh. He also has SVC63, directed by Vamshi Paidipally, which marks his first on-screen collaboration with Nayanthara. The film is backed by Sri Venkateswara Creations and is slated for an Eid release.- EndsPublished On: Jul 31, 2026 19:09 IST
