Sabres’ Owen Power suffers injury scare in Canadiens Game 5

The Buffalo Sabres are hosting Game 5 against the Montreal Canadiens in the second round. Unfortunately, this contest had not gone the way they hoped it would. And things nearly went from bad to worse when Owen Power briefly left the game.Power and Canadiens forward Alexandre Texier battled for a puck in Buffalo's zone. The Sabres defenseman went to corral the puck with his stick. However, he whiffed, lost an edge, and collided leg-first into the end boards. He eventually returned to the bench and appeared to be testing how his leg felt. He went onto the ice during a TV timeout to further test the injury. Power eventually took a shift late in the third period.Power is one of the most trusted defensemen on the Sabres roster. He has averaged more than 21 minutes per game in every season of his five-year career. In these Stanley Cup Playoffs, he has continued averaging north of 20 minutes a night.His offensive production has not been there for Buffalo this postseason, though. Entering play Thursday, the former No. 1 overall pick had just four assists. He added another assist to his ledger on Buffalo's second goal of the night in Game 5.The Sabres certainly cannot afford to lose Power for any amount of time. Especially given that it's increasingly likely Buffalo will face elimination in Game 6. His return to the ice is certainly a positive sign, though.
