Sabres’ Lindy Ruff bluntly reacts to Game 5 goalie debacle vs Canadiens

The Buffalo Sabres are facing elimination in the Stanley Cup Playoffs after a Game 5 loss to the Montreal Canadiens. They fell 6-3 at home, allowing four straight goals after taking a 3-2 lead in the first period. Sabres coach Lindy Ruff hears the criticism toward Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen and won't stand for it, even after the disaster.“All year we haven’t made it about our goaltender, and we’re not going to make it about our goaltender now,” Ruff said, per Matthew Bove of WKBW.The Sabres won the Atlantic Division in part due to solid goaltending all season long. Luukkonen, Alex Lyon, and Colten Ellis all posted save percentages over .900 on the season. Luukkonen took the net in Game 1 against the Boston Bruins, but lost that post after two shaky games. Lyon took over, leading the Swords past Boston and for the first three games against the Canadiens.The Canadiens have made it this far with incredible speed and young offensive superstars. When those players get buzzing, the Sabres' defensemen and goalies cannot keep up. In their three wins, Montreal has scored at least five goals. In their two losses, Montreal has been held to exactly two goals.The Sabres have their backs against the wall heading into the Bell Centre for Game 6. Both of these groups are young and inexperienced, which has led to some penalty-filled games so far. The Canadiens have used their high-end skill to bully Buffalo's goalies, which has many asking for Lyon once again in Game 6.No matter who Ruff decides to put in goal for Game 6, the Sabres have to be better offensively.
