While The Multiverse Saga is building towards its big finale in 2027 with Avengers: Secret Wars, Marvel Studios is already busy working on plans after Phase 6. With only a handful of projects left for the current slate, a major MCU update has just arrived about another highly anticipated film. Ghost Rider, which will bring Gosling into the franchise, has landed its official release date, as it will open in theaters on July 28, 2028. This comes nearly a month after the announcement at San Diego Comic-Con that the Barbie star would finally get to play his dream role in the MCU. At the time, it had only been revealed that the reboot was slated for 2028, with no specific date initially. Deadpool & Wolverine's Shawn Levy will direct the Ghost Rider reboot, after he and Gosling worked together on Star Wars: Starfighter. However, the superhero project is bringing in another key creative from the Lucasfilm production, as Jonathan Tropper has been tapped to write the script for the 2028 feature. While Marvel Studios hasn't formally announced their next saga, 2028 will mark the proper start of what will be Phase 7 of the MCU timeline. As Gosling's feature has landed a big summer date, it will be the second theatrical release for the franchise that year, as the X-Men reboot will open on May 5, while Black Panther 3 is slated for December 15.
