Russia’s Lavrov Threatens Europe With a ‘Very Short’ War

His remarks came as European governments have increasingly discussed strengthening their defenses against potential Russian aggression.Lavrov also repeated Russian President Vladimir Putin’s warning that Moscow would view the deployment of foreign military forces to Ukraine as a declaration of war.Several of Ukraine’s European allies have discussed a possible international contingent as part of future security guarantees.Lavrov said any settlement of the war in Ukraine would require fulfilling what Moscow calls the original objectives of its “special military operation,” the Kremlin’s term for Russia’s full-scale invasion launched in February 2022.Russia has repeatedly used shifting and broadly defined objectives to justify the invasion.
