Russian forces launched consecutive strikes against southern Ukraine late Saturday, Sept. 12 and early Sunday, Sept. 13, hitting a Nova Poshta postal depot and a residential high-rise in Odesa, while causing power outages across Mykolaiv. A multi-story building was damaged,” Lysak stated on Telegram, urging residents to remain in shelters as aerial threats continued. The Ukrainian Air Force had issued warnings prior to the explosions, tracking Russian “Banderol” loitering munitions heading directly toward Odesa. Earlier on Saturday evening, a Russian jet-powered unmanned aerial vehicle struck a facility belonging to the postal and logistics company Nova Poshta in the Odesa region, injuring two people. Odesa Regional Military Administration Head Oleh Kiper confirmed the strike on social media, publishing photographs showing damage to the logistics branch. “As a result of an enemy strike by a jet-powered UAV, a branch of a logistics company was damaged. The facade of the building, glazing, and a cargo vehicle sustained damage. Two people were injured,” Kiper said. During Saturday morning’s assault, fires engulfed the 21st through 23rd floors of a 25-story apartment building in Odesa, with emergency services rescuing 13 residents, including trapped occupants freed from elevators. Search-and-rescue teams later recovered the body of a deceased resident from the debris of the damaged structure. In nearby Chornomorsk, Saturday’s strikes injured five people – including four children – and destroyed private residential properties and a hotel housing a rehabilitation facility.
