Ukrainian aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups downed or suppressed the three aviation missiles, six “Banderols,” and 182 drones. The drone barrage coincided with ballistic missile strikes on a railway enterprise in Kyiv’s Darnytsia district, which killed a foreman for the state rail operator Ukrzaliznytsia. A warehouse in the district caught fire following the strikes. Ukrzaliznytsia confirmed that the strike occurred almost simultaneously with the ballistic threat warning and that the remaining staff were evacuated immediately. Despite the damage to the Rozdilna station in the Odesa region and the fatalities in Kyiv, Ukrzaliznytsia stated that overall railway operations and train schedules remained unaffected. The attacks occur just days before Ukraine marks its 35th Independence Day on Aug. 24. The Security Service of Ukraine had previously urged citizens to remain vigilant regarding potential Russian strikes and provocations surrounding the anniversary.
