Russian Drones Threaten Kyiv and Multiple Ukrainian Regions in Early Hours of Saturday

Russian forces launched another wave of drone attacks against Ukraine late Friday, Oct. 9, extending into the early hours of Saturday, Oct. 10, as Ukrainian air defenses tracked incoming threats across several regions. In western Ukraine, the military warned of a jet-powered drone heading toward Lutsk in Volyn region after tracking aerial threats across neighboring Rivne region. Other drones were detected over Zhytomyr region, including near Korosten and Korostyshiv, while further threats approached Kyiv region. In central Ukraine, the Air Force warned of jet-powered drones approaching Kremenchuk in Poltava region. Additional unmanned aircraft were tracked northwest of Pavlohrad in Dnipropetrovsk region. Southern Ukraine also faced renewed threats, with Russian drones approaching Mykolaiv and moving toward Odesa region from the Black Sea. In Kyiv, an air raid alert was declared at 12:36 a.m. Saturday amid warnings about jet-powered drones. The attacks follow days of intensified Russian strikes against Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure, including attacks on Kyiv’s energy facilities and transport network.
