Russian Drone Strike Sets Zaporizhzhia Apartment Building Ablaze

A Russian drone struck a multi-story residential building in Zaporizhzhia in the early hours of Friday, Sept. 4, setting apartments ablaze as Moscow continued attacks on the southeastern Ukrainian city. Authorities were still assessing the extent of the damage and whether anyone had been injured, according to the latest preliminary information. An air raid alert had been declared in Zaporizhzhia and the surrounding region because of the threat of Russian attack drones before the strike. The attack came hours after a separate Russian drone struck a civilian vehicle in the village of Bilenke in Zaporizhzhia district. A man was killed and a woman wounded in that attack, Fedorov said. Russian forces have continued their relentless attacks on the region. Over the previous 24 hours alone, Moscow’s troops carried out 957 strikes on 52 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region, according to Ukrainian regional authorities.
