Russian Drone Slams Into Kyiv High-Rise, Injuring 4

A Russian jet-powered drone slammed into a residential high-rise in Kyiv early Wednesday, setting part of the building on fire and injuring four people, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said. The impact tore through walls on the 12th floor and sparked a fire, Klitschko said. Emergency crews rushed to the scene as the attack was still unfolding. Earlier, Ukraine’s Air Force warned Kyiv residents of a jet-powered drone flying over the capital. “Kyiv. A jet-powered UAV over the city! Stay in shelters!” the Air Force said. Klitschko initially said the drone had struck a 16-story building, before updating the information to 24 floors. The strike was part of another Russian overnight assault on Kyiv and the surrounding region. Russian forces attacked six districts of the Kyiv region, with a drone strike also sparking a fire at a food-processing facility in Bila Tserkva. Firefighters worked through the night to contain the blaze there, with repeated air raid alerts making the response more difficult. The latest attack comes as Russia continues its heavy aerial campaign against Kyiv, with jet-powered drones increasingly featuring in attacks on the capital. Russia resumed major strikes on Kyiv this week after a brief pause during the visit of US peace envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
