A Russian strike on a postal terminal in the suburbs of Kharkiv on Sunday, Aug. 2, killed at least one person and sparked a massive fire, as Russian forces intensified their bombardment of civilian infrastructure across eastern Ukraine. My deepest condolences to the family and friends,” Syniehubov stated on Telegram. He noted that the large-scale blaze had been localized, though law enforcement, medics, and rescuers were still sweeping the territory to locate potential victims and manage the aftermath. Guided bomb strikes Sloviansk The fatal attack in the Kharkiv region coincided with a devastating daytime airstrike on Sloviansk in the Donetsk region. Vadym Liakh, the head of the Sloviansk City Military Administration, reported that Russian forces dropped a FAB-250 guided aerial bomb on the city at approximately 11:00 a.m. local time. The bomb struck the central area and the Railway micro-district, destroying an administrative building and a dozen private homes. “Currently, one wounded person is known,” Liakh reported. “A man, born in 1965, is currently in the operating room; doctors are saving his life.” Weekend drone attack The Sunday strikes on the postal terminal and Sloviansk followed a series of overnight drone attacks targeting Kharkiv’s districts, which left at least three people injured.
