Russia Launches New Ballistic Threat Toward Kyiv After Massive Overnight Attack

Russian forces triggered fresh air raid alerts in Kyiv and several Ukrainian regions early Friday, Sept. 25, after Ukraine’s Air Force warned of a ballistic missile threat from Russia’s Bryansk region. The warning was issued at 1:26 a.m. local time. The ballistic threat was lifted at 1:42 a.m., but Russian drone activity continued across several regions. Escalation follows deadly combined assault The renewed threat came less than a day after Russia launched a massive combined missile and drone attack on Ukraine overnight on Sept. 23-24. According to Ukraine’s Air Force, Russian forces used ballistic missiles, jet-powered drones and other strike weapons against Kyiv and other regions during the assault. The attack killed two people and injured eight in Kyiv. Residential buildings, a maternity hospital, and energy and logistics infrastructure were damaged across the capital. Aerial attacks spread across southern and central regions Russian aerial attacks continued into the early hours of Friday. After the ballistic warning for Kyiv was lifted, the Air Force tracked strike drones toward Kryvyi Rih and Dnipro, jet-powered drones over Poltava region, and additional drones moving toward Chernihiv, Chornomorsk and Mykolaiv region. Strategic escalation ahead of potential peace tracks The renewed aerial attacks come as Ukraine continues pushing for international peace frameworks and credible diplomatic tracks.
