Russia has accumulated up to 700 ballistic missiles, several thousand cruise missiles and more than 6,000 attack drones for strikes against Ukraine, according to Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (HUR). The figures, provided to Ukrainian outlet NV, show Moscow continuing to expand its weapons production while maintaining substantial reserves for sustained attacks.JOIN US ON TELEGRAMFollow our coverage of the war on the @Kyivpost_official. Russia’s monthly output of unmanned aerial vehicles has reached 10,000 units, including attack drones and decoys designed to overwhelm Ukrainian air defenses. Russia expands missile production Russia has around 115 Iskander-M ballistic missiles in its current stockpile and produces up to 65 per month, according to HUR. Moscow is also developing an upgraded version of the system with an estimated range of 550–700 kilometers, compared with the current 500 kilometers. Kh-101 cruise missiles remain a key weapon in Russia’s large-scale attacks against Ukraine, with monthly production exceeding 80 missiles. Russia also holds more than 450 Kalibr sea-launched cruise missiles, producing approximately 29 per month. HUR said the effectiveness of Ukrainian air defenses has forced Russia to direct most newly produced Kalibr missiles into strategic reserves and use them to equip its fleets. The Russian arsenal also includes up to 400 RM-48U missiles, adapted from the S-300PM and S-400 air defense systems for strikes against ground targets. Russia produces around 40 of these missiles monthly. Moscow has more than 600 upgraded Oniks anti-ship missiles, featuring increased range and more powerful warheads. More than 55 were manufactured in the first seven months of 2026. Its stockpile also includes more than 120 Zircon hypersonic missiles, although production remains relatively low, with just over 30 manufactured since the start of the year. Russia has temporarily suspended production of Kinzhal air-launched ballistic missiles because of unsatisfactory accuracy, redirecting production capacity toward conventional ballistic missiles, HUR said. Russia produces 10,000 drones a month Russia has significantly expanded production of long-range kamikaze drones at the Alabuga Special Economic Zone in Tatarstan. Its state order for Geran attack drones and decoy drones has exceeded 100,000 units this year, according to Ukrainian intelligence. Russia currently maintains an operational reserve of around 6,200 Geran drones of various modifications, including jet-powered models. Since the summer, Moscow has concentrated on producing jet-powered Geran-4 and Geran-5 drones, manufacturing up to 4,000 units monthly. Russia continues to produce up to 2,000 Geran-2 drones per month, alongside hundreds of cheaper Gerbera decoy drones made from plywood and foam. The decoys are intended to deplete Ukrainian air defense resources and help Russia identify the positions of Ukrainian surface-to-air missile systems. HUR said Russia’s growing drone output reflects a systematic strategy of exhausting Ukraine’s air defenses through repeated attacks. Russia continues to expand its arsenal The latest estimates follow a series of warnings from Ukrainian intelligence about Russia’s ability to sustain its missile campaign. In June, HUR said Russia could launch up to 100 ballistic missiles per month without exhausting its main stockpile. In August, Vadym Skibitsky, deputy head of HUR, said Russia’s military-industrial complex was exceeding missile production targets by 110–120%, warning against expecting a pause in attacks. In September, Skibitsky said Russia planned to complete testing of a new ballistic missile with a range of up to 800 kilometers by the end of 2026.
