Russell Brand police interview video released following guilty verdict: “I had countless sexual encounters”

The Met Police have confirmed Russel Brand is still being investigated for two more allegations of rape, and have shared historic interview footage. Yesterday (November 5), the 51-year-old former comedian and actor was found guilty of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault at Southwark Crown Court. He was acquitted of two other rape charges and an attempted indecent assault. He will return to court to be sentenced on Monday (November 9), but the judge has already warned Brand that the consequence of the verdicts is a “significant custodial term”. “Brand’s offending was between 2004 and 2009 and included one rape and three sexual assaults committed against four women,” the Met Police said in a statement. “The offences took place in different locations, including a radio station, the set of a DVD recording and Brand’s home address.” The court heard testimony from the six complainants, who all came forward to the police following reporting from Channel 4’s Dispatches and The Sunday Times in September 2023. A spokesperson for the Met Police told PEOPLE that Brand is still under investigation for two more allegations of rape. “The suspect has previously been interviewed under caution in connection with the allegations. Files have been submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service in relation to both complainants.” The police have also released historic interview footage conducted with Brand between November 2023 and July 2025.Recommended In one clip, he reads from a prepared statement and denies ever engaging in “non-conseual sexual activity”. He says the allegations are the result of a “defamatory and fictitious” documentary, which was broadcast in September 2023 alongside two reports from national newspapers containing “false” allegations against him. “The police and the media then invited additional allegations to be made, which has led to further encounters being invented or imagined.” He also confirms having had “countless” sexual encounters in various scenarios and locations, “often” with people he’d “just met”.
