Achievement lists from hundreds of not only unreleased Steam games, but in some cases unannounced ones, are just out there in the world. That list includes an unannounced Marvel’s Avengers game, giving us our most concrete evidence yet that there really is a studio out there trying to crack that tainted formula. THQ's Marvel's Avengers Shows Signs Of Life Nestled among the long list of titles is one that reads, “Unannounced Marvel’s Avengers”. It doesn’t have a name, nor have the studios attached to it been revealed. However, this isn’t the first time that a leak has claimed there’s going to be a new Avengers game. Those rumors have been out in the wild for months, and this leak effectively confirms that they’re real. This is where the waters start to get a little muddy. The Avengers game listed was added to Steam in 2013. It’s also tied to assets that confirm it’s the THQ game that was ultimately canceled before it ever even had the chance to be announced. So, why has it appeared in a leak that’s almost exclusively made up of games that are going to be released in the coming months and years? Well, as spotted by eagle-eyed users dissecting the topic on the GamingLeaksAndRumors subreddit, this mysterious Avengers game was updated less than a year ago. Between that and the fresh rumors that there’s a new game starring Earth’s Mightiest Heroes out there in development somewhere, this strongly suggests that the prior leaks were true. We’re getting a new Avengers game, and its foundation might be the game THQ wound up scrapping more than a decade ago. Who's Brave Enough To Make Another Avengers Game? These are incredibly treacherous waters to navigate due to the Avengers game we wound up getting after the THQ one was canned. A live service game published by Square Enix and developed by Crystal Dynamics. Marvel’s Avengers was eventually shut down and delisted in September 2023, just three years after it was released, and before all of the heroes that had been created for it could be added to the game. If there really is a studio out there brave enough to believe they can avoid the same pitfalls as that Avengers game, then more power to them. They’re also living in a time when superhero games are no longer guaranteed to even be released, let alone succeed. EA’s Black Panther was canceled before we were even shown a trailer, and Monolith’s Wonder Woman got the shortest of teasers before it was shelved and the studio was shut down.
