Royal Army of Oman marks passing out of new batch of recruits

Muscat: The Royal Army of Oman (RAO) today celebrated the passing out of a new batch of recruits who took a course at the Training Battalion of the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) in Muscat Governorate.The ceremony was held under the auspices of Maj. Gen. Mattar Salim Al Balushi, Commander of the Royal Army of Oman. The ceremony began with a military salute to the chief guest, who later inspected the front row of the parade. Then, the recruits performed a military march of slow motion, to the tune of the RAO band. Then, the columns made a forward march in parade formation.Then, the chief guest handed over certificates to the graduates who topped the ranks of the recruits.At the conclusion of the ceremony, the graduates chanted the anthem of the Royal Army of Oman, performed the oath of allegiance and proclaimed thrice “Long live His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Supreme Commander—May the Almighty Allah protect him!”Then, the RAO band played the Salute of Honour, after which the commander of the parade stepped forward, asking the chief guest’s permission to leave the celebration grounds. The new recruits marched past the dais in a regular march, as the RAO band presented various military martials and fanfare.The ceremony was attended by senior officers of the Sultan’s Armed Forces, non-commissioned officers, RAO personnel and parents of the graduates.
