Europe’s triumph at last year’s Ryder Cup was unfortunately overshadowed. The crowd behaviour at Bethpage Black, and the abuse thrown at Rory McIlroy and co from the galleries, was so abhorrent that the National Guard was called to the course to prevent things from escalating out of hand.
