Muscat: With the start of the new academic year 2026/2027, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) has advised school bus drivers to ensure that all students disembark from the bus upon arrival at and departure from schools.In a statement, the ROP urged school bus drivers to: - Never leave a student behind.- Make checking the bus a routine after every trip.- Ensure all students have disembarked upon arrival.- Pay attention to students who may be sleeping or tired.- Check that the aisles and seats are clear.- Check the back seats carefully.The ROP added: “Minutes of checking can save lives.”A total of 876,117 male and female students began the new academic year 2026/2027 today at schools across the educational directorates in the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman. The total includes 440,899 male students and 435,218 female students.
