Ronnie O'Sullivan's wife Laila Rouass is banned from driving after being caught speeding in 20mph zone

Published: 08:08 EDT, 26 October 2026 | Updated: 08:24 EDT, 26 October 2026 Ronnie O’Sullivan’s wife Laila Rouass has been banned from driving for six months after she was caught speeding in a 20mph zone.The 55-year-old actress failed to turn up in court, claiming she is stuck in Dubai due to 'flight disruption'. Last month Rouass, who has been married to the seven-time world snooker champion since June 2025, called staff at Barkingside Magistrates Court and said she ‘has been unwell since coming back from abroad’. Rouass, of Woodford Green, east London, failed to attend the same court again and sent an email saying the case should proceed in her absence. Flights from the UAE had been disrupted following the attempted hijacking of a Flydubai plane by the Omani co-pilot and attacks on Riyadh airport in nearby Saudi Arabia.Rouass, who competed on series 7 of Strictly Come Dancing in 2009, was clocked speeding in a £60,000 Porsche Macan on the A41 in affluent St John’s Wood, on August 19, 2025.She was caught driving 26mph in a 20mph zone. In her email Rouass ‘apologised for inconvenience and distress caused’ and said she would ‘accept the ban and will not fight it’. Ronnie O’Sullivan’s wife Laila Rouass (pictured left) has been banned from driving for six months after she was caught speeding in a 20mph zoneProsecutor Matthew Longhurst said: ‘She’s been given plenty of notice and I wasn’t aware of any flight disruption.’He told the court: ‘It was on 19 August 2025 at 10:35am on A41 Finchley Road near Queensgrove southbound in NW12.‘She was going at a speed of 26 mph on a 20mph stretch of road.’She was caught on an automatic camera and responded to the DVLA notice saying she was the driver.‘On 11 November last year she was served with a fixed penalty notice,’ Mr Longhurst continued.She attempted to pay her fine but the payment was returned as she had not provided her licence details.It was referred to the court after it was revealed she already had nine points on her licence from three previous offences.She has been convicted of speeding on October 6, 2024, November 14, 2024 and July 29, 2025 and faces losing her licence for totting up 12 points on her licence during a three-year period. Ronnie O'Sullivan and Laila Rouass married in June 2025 On two occasions she was speeding in a 30mph zone, the third in a 50mph limit.Magistrate Ms Piper said: ‘She’ll get three penalty points for that which bring her to twelve, so she’ll be disqualified from driving for six months from today.‘The fine will be £220, the victim surcharge will be £88 and prosecution costs are £130, giving us a total of £438.‘She’ll be notified of her disqualification.’‘She will have 28 days to pay due on 19 November.’Rouass will have to reapply to the DVLA for her driver’s licence after her ban expires.
