(Photo: Instagram)One of the most interesting details from Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez’s wedding was their outfits for sure. Why, you may ask! Well, because it was Gucci. What’s the big deal? Well, the couple chose the Italian fashion house for their wedding looks which was a nod to the place where their love story began a decade ago – a Gucci store. Rodriguez and Ronaldo tied the knot on August 11, exactly 10 years after their first meeting at a Gucci store on Madrid’s Calle Serrano.According to an exclusive Vogue report, in August 2016, Ronaldo, then 31 and already at the height of his football career, walked into the Gucci store with his six-year-old son, Cristiano Jr. Rodriguez, then 22, had recently returned to Spain after working as an au pair in England. She had taken up a job as a sales assistant at the store, although she was not actually meant to be working that day. She was filling in for a friend.“That’s destiny,” Rodriguez told Vogue.A decade later, the fashion house that inadvertently brought them together became part of their wedding day. Rodriguez wore a white silk faille skirt suit with matching satin shoes featuring Gucci’s signature silver horsebit detail. Ronaldo was dressed in a custom light beige cotton suit with matching custom loafers, while the couple’s children also wore coordinated Gucci outfits.“It felt incredibly special to dress Georgina and Cristiano for this moment, knowing their love story began in a Gucci store in Madrid,” Gucci artistic director Demna told Vogue. “There is something so romantic about it, a beautiful circle closing, almost like a modern fairy tale.” And while the Gucci connection supplied the sentimental fashion moment, Rodriguez’s wedding jewellery brought the expected dose of extravagance. The model, mother and founder of activewear brand Mimoa had been wearing an enormous oval-cut diamond engagement ring for the past year. For the wedding, she planned to pair it with a Chopard Garden of Kalahari necklace featuring a D-flawless 50-carat brilliant-cut diamond at its centre, according to Vogue.Even the venue carried a personal touch. Rather than the grand wedding Rodriguez had once imagined, the couple chose to exchange vows in the living room of their home — the same space where the family eats breakfast, lunch and dinner.“We’ve chosen to do it in the living room of our house here,” Rodriguez told Vogue, explaining that she wanted the setting to reflect the reality of their family life. “In 30 years’ time I want the children to think, Something wonderful happened at this table—the wedding vows of our parents.”The couple will reportedly host a big fat wedding which they want to ‘celebrate with friends and family’.- EndsPublished By: Tiasa Bhowal Published On: Aug 17, 2026 11:11 IST
