Rolly Romero has gone without sex for over ONE YEAR as boxing champ commits to celibacy ahead of Teofimo Lopez fight

ROLLY ROMERO is hoping to be harder to beat than ever – after abstaining from sex for over a year. But above all, it will be Romero’s first bout since abstaining from sex. Sign up for the Sport newsletter Thank you! “I haven’t had sex… two days ago made 14 months,” Romero tells SunSport. “God told me not to do it, I did it, and I felt dumb after.” Boxers have been abstaining from sex for decades due to the unproven myth that it builds up testosterone and improves performance. But Romero – who has since found God – does not subscribe to the age old adage. “The stupid myth that, ‘Oh, if you don’t have sex for a month, you’re gonna punch harder, you’re gonna be stronger.’ and all that? Man, that’s all a lie,” he says. “I do it because it’s a sin. Sexual immorality of all kinds is a sin. Any sex outside of marriage is a sin. Making love, there’s a reason why it procreates life. “Because it’s something intimate, something spiritual, something powerful. “It’s not something you should just go be having out just because you had a few drinks with a girl and then that just happened, right? “It’s something that should be locked in for an intimate relationship with your spouse that the Lord delivers for you. “And trust me, I am the worst of these culprits. I’m the worst of them. I done did way too much. But I done repented. “And I fight it, I fight my flesh, I fight my body, my physical body that wants it. “It has nothing to do with boxing. None of that stuff ever got in the way of boxing in the past anyways.” Romero claims he is holding out for marriage to break his sex ban. “The Lord will deliver her when she’s ready. And I know who it is. I know who it is,” Romero says. But does the mystery woman in question know she is destined to be Mrs Romero? “Honestly, she does,” he says with a smile. “But there’s a lot more complications when it comes to stuff like that.” Comment now
