I think. A platform for everybody to scream at each other, but nobody's f***ing listening.’The Giving It All Away hitmaker continued during his set: ‘So, everybody's screaming. Oh, yeah. What's that all about? And how many friends have you really got when you look at Oh, I got all these likes. That's just your ego. Let it go. Let it go. It's not worth it. So, when it comes to the end, and I’m getting close.’He then giggled: ‘Closer than you think. Mr Daltrey, 82, didn’t hold back when he also told the audience at Yaamava' Resort & Casino in Los Angeles earlier this week that social media is ‘destroying civilisation' He founded The Who in London in 1964, with the original lineup also consisting of lead vocalist guitarist Pete Townshend, bassist John Entwistle and drummer Keith Moon‘How many friends have you really got? Never a true word was written.’The audience shouted their approval at his comments before he sang teen rebel anthem My Generation.In 2021, Mr Daltrey said of woke culture: ‘If you’re going to micromanage every emotion you ever have and you live in fear of upsetting someone or being objectionable.‘We all have the right to be objectionable to anyone we meet. ‘If you’re offended, fine. Get over it. Get a life and move on.’Today, Mr Daltrey lives a quiet life in Sussex with his second wife Heather.He founded The Who in London in 1964, with the original lineup also consisting of lead vocalist guitarist Pete Townshend, bassist John Entwistle and drummer Keith Moon.Moon tragically died at just 32 in 1978, while Enwistle passed away at just 57 in 2002.Speaking previously, Townshend said the band became a ‘Who tribute’ following their deaths.
