Rockstar Karen O pulls out of performing at Olivia Rodrigo’s festival due to ‘family emergency’

A ROCKER pulled out of performing at Olivia Rodrigo’s brand-new festival in California due to a “family emergency”. Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Karen O has revealed that a family-related emergency prevented her from performing at Olivia Rodrigo’s inaugural Daisy Chain Fields festival. She was billed alongside Stevie Nicks and Sarah McLachlan. Sign up for the Showbiz newsletter Thank you! In a statement shared on Instagram on Sunday, the singer explained her absence. In the statement, Karen penned: “I was unable to perform at Daisy Chain due to a family emergency. “Very sad to miss such a herstoric music event, but I’m where I’m most needed, with family back east. “So much gratitude to Olivia for her advocacy for women, by women, who totally rock. Much [heart emoji] KO.” Fans flocked to the comment section to send well wishes to Karen and her family. “You were missed and hope you are able to play next year,” said one person. I hope all is well with you,” penned a second. “They played Maps and Heads Will Role like nonstop on the speakers throughout the festival, so we all felt you there with us in spirit,” said a third. The band Yeah Yeah Yeahs are an American indie rock band formed in New York City in 2000 by Karen O, Nick Zinner, and Brian Chase. They shot to fame during the 2000s and were noted for their evolving musical style and energetic performances. Their 2003 breakthrough single Maps is their most popular, though their 2009 dance-rock track Heads Will Roll is also well loved. Olivia ended up bringing out Stevie Nicks, Sarah McLachlan, and Alanis Morissette as special guests during her headlining set at the inaugural festival. All participating artists waived their performance fees. The profits will go towards supporting organisations that advocate for women and girls. Daisy Chain Fields raised $10 million for 10 non-profit groups before the event, it then doubled to $20 million thanks to matching donation from Melinda French Gates. Comment now
