Rockies place LHP Kyle Freeland (neck) on 15-day IL

Freeland, 33, departed his start against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday in the fourth inning with discomfort in his left arm caused by the pinched nerve. He is 4-10 with a 6.37 ERA in 23 starts this season. In 10 major league seasons, all with the Rockies, the Denver native is 69-100 with a 4.71 ERA in 259 appearances (254 starts). Adams, 25, is set to make his major league debut. In 25 appearances (two starts) between Double-A and Triple-A this season, Adams is 3-5 with a 6.52 ERA.
