Rockies pitcher Chase Dollander exits Pirates clash with apparent injury

The Colorado Rockies are finishing their series with the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday. Prior to the game, the Rockies announced that pitcher Jimmy Herget would be heading to the IL.Now, there is more injury concern for the team, as Chase Dollander exited the game against the Pirates, per Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.“Rockies starter Chase Dollander is leaving this game with an injury after allowing an Endy Rodriguez double and walking Jared Triolo. The Rockies bullpen will have to cover eight innings, already trailing 3-0. This is an opportunity the Pirates have to take advantage of,” Beazley posted on X, formerly Twitter.Dollander gave up three runs with a home run in the first inning. He would return to the mound in the second inning, giving up the hit to Endy Rodriguez and then walking Jared Triolo before leaving the game. The Pirates would not be able to score in the second inning, but have since added three more runs in the third inning, leading 6-0 through three innings of play.It is being reported that Dollander left the game due to right arm tightness.The 24-year-old pitcher was off to a solid start to the season. After having a 2-12 record with a 6.52 ERA in 2025, he was 3-2 with a 3.35 ERA this year. He also had a 1.149 WHIP and 47 strikeouts heading into the contest on Thursday.Meanwhile, the Rockies have lost three of their last four games and are 17-26 on the season.
