Rock band Squeeze cancel show after worker crushed to death under tour bus

British rock band Squeeze have cancelled a performance after a worker was crushed to death under their tour bus in the US.The group was due to perform at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts in Virginia.Police told FOX 5 DC that the worker was under the bus when a supporting apparatus failed, causing the bus to collapse on top of him.Squeeze released a statement confirming they had cancelled their show, which had been due to take place on Thursday at 7.30pm local time.The band said: “Squeeze are deeply saddened and shocked by an incident that occurred at the venue earlier today, which resulted in the loss of a life.“After discussions with the venue and the relevant authorities, the decision was made to cancel this evening’s performance.“We will work with the promoter and venue regarding the possibility of rescheduling the show and will communicate further information to ticket holders as soon as it is available.“Our thoughts remain with everyone affected by this tragic event.”Squeeze formed in London in the 1970s and became known for hits including Cool For Cats and Up The Junction (Ian West/PA)PA ArchiveWolf Trap National Park also posted a statement to their Facebook page which said: “There was an accident involving a member of the community at Wolf Trap National Park today, tragically resulting in a loss of life.“Out of respect, tonight’s show has been canceled.”Squeeze formed in London in the 1970s and became known for hits including Cool For Cats, Up The Junction and Labelled With Love.Fronted by songwriters Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford, the band has had frequent line-up changes over the years and more than 30 musicians have been members at some point.Their sixteenth album, Trixies, was released in March 2026.
