Robert Pattinson Says ‘The Batman 2’ Action Scenes Are ‘Significantly Harder’ and ‘I’m Feeling My Age When Fighting a Lot’

Robert Pattinson turned 40 years old ahead of filming “The Batman: Part II,” and he’s definitely feeling his age on set. Production on the long-awaited superhero sequel kicked off in June in London with Pattinson back as the Dark Knight opposite new cast members Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan, whose roles remain a closely guarded secret. “I’m in London here till the end of the year doing a ‘Batman’ sequel,” Pattinson told GQ in an a recent interview. “It’s good. I’m definitely feeling my age when fighting a lot. I’m literally like, ‘Goddamn, this is significantly harder than it used to be.’ But it’s really fun. And I think the movie’s going to be pretty great. It’s got a really, really fun cast, but it’s a marathon.” Matt Reeves is back in the director’s chair for “The Batman: Part II” and co-wrote the sequel’s screenplay with Mattson Tomlin. The supporting cast also includes Charles Dance, Brian Tyree Henry and Sebastian Koch. Plot details remain under wraps. Popular on Variety “The Batman Part II” was originally supposed to open in theaters on Oct. 2, 2026, before Warner Bros. delayed it to Oct. 1, 2027. News broke in July that the sequel was moving once again, this time to a Feb. 18, 2028, release date. That’s nearly nearly six years after the March 2022 opening of “The Batman.” Per sources, moving the film to 2028 will give Reeves additional time in post-production. DC Studios co-chief James Gunn previously defended the release delays by explaining how it’s “fairly common” for big-budget titles to have lengthy gaps before a sequel is released. “To be fair, a 5-year gap or more is fairly common in sequels,” Gunn wrote on Threads last year. “7 years between ‘Alien’ and ‘Aliens.’ 14 years between ‘Incredibles.’ 7 years between the first two ‘Terminators.’ 13 years between ‘Avatars.’ 36 years between ‘Top Guns.’ And, of course, six years between ‘Guardians Vol 2’ and ‘Vol 3.’”
