The Angels singer, 52, admitted his current look requires a little behind-the-scenes assistance as he discussed his insecurities about ageing in the public eye. Appearing on The Steve Bracknall podcast on Thursday, Robbie confessed that what appears to be a full head of hair is actually being helped along by styling products. ‘I’m losing my hair – this is all powder and scaffolding now. Can you see the powder?’ he joked. Hair powder is commonly used to give thinning hair the appearance of extra volume and texture, and Robbie admitted he has increasingly come to rely on it. When host Steve reassured him that he couldn’t see his scalp and asked why the issue bothered him so much, the former Take That star explained that his career had made him particularly conscious of his appearance. Robbie revealed the appearance of his thick hair is mostly due to ‘powder’ (Picture: The Steve Bracknall podcast) ‘I’m a popstar, that’s what I do for a living and you’re supposed to have some sort of looks and some sort of hair,’ he said. After Steve observed that he seemed genuinely concerned about the prospect of losing it, Robbie admitted he was. ‘I am because I’ve got powder in, that’s why it looks alright, but it’s on its way out,’ he explained. And the Rock DJ hitmaker is already contemplating a more permanent-looking solution. ‘I’m thinking about getting one of those hair systems. Have you seen them?’ he asked. The pop star said he’s considering investing in a ‘hair system’ (Picture: Dave Benett/Getty Images for FLANNELS and Hopeium) Hair systems, sometimes referred to as toupees, are partial hairpieces designed to blend with a person’s existing hair and cover areas affected by thinning or baldness. His latest admission comes during a particularly candid period for the star, who recently revealed he had been told he has ‘a little bit of autism’. Earlier this month, Robbie discussed the diagnosis during a Q&A at the Autumn/Winter launch of his Hopeium clothing brand at Flannels. The singer, who has previously been diagnosed with ADHD, said learning he was also on the autism spectrum had helped him make sense of aspects of his personality and behaviour. ‘I have ADHD and I just found out I have a bit of autism as well, which I actually f****** love because it explains so much,’ he told the audience.
